PROPERTY developers have become more creative in wooing buyers amid the current economic slowdown. One of the ways is through the launch of Spanish-, French-, Korean- or Japanese-inspired residential projects.

Sunsuria Bhd recently unveiled Monet Lily, which is the first phase of its Monet Residences development at Sunsuria City in Salak Tinggi.
The development, with 211 units of two-storey terrace houses, is inspired by French Impressionist Claude Monet’s painting, ‘Water Lilies’.
Claude Monet was a famous painter in the late 1800s. He painted the Water Lilies series from the 1890s until his death in 1926.
Every painting in the series potrays a water lily garden he had created at his home in Giverny.
Over the years the value of the paintings increased. According to reports, one was sold in June 2014 at Sotheby’s in London for nearly £32 million (RM181 million).
The Sunsuria group, whose roots date back to 1989, decided to introduce the Monet series at the Monet Residences development to build up its own brand.
Sunsuria sales, marketing and operations senior director Simon Kwan said just as Monet is synonymous with Impressionism, the Sunsuria brand represents sustainable and modern homes. Besides Monet Lily’s high pre-booking rate, the strong support to Sunsuria’s previous launches — Suria Residence, Bell Suites and The Olive — speaks of the confidence buyers have placed in the company, he said.
“We will continue to build on their trust and these achievements as the year draws to a close,” said Kwan.
The Monet Residences will comprise five parcels of land, with plans for 519 terraced houses and 360 units of townhouses to be built across three parcels with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM583 million.
The Monet Lily residential project, spanning 6.4ha of freehold land, has an estimated GDV of RM141.24 million.
Each unit is priced from RM660,000 and the developer has recorded 80 per cent pre-booking.
Monet Lily is a gated-and-guarded community that features lush landscaping, themed gardens and a playground. The houses overlook a dedicated 3.6ha lake and Giverny park within the Monet Residences area.
Kwan said Monet Lily residents would have their education needs met with the 60ha Xiamen University Malaysia located at the heart of Sunsuria City and up to 40 universities and colleges located 30km away from the integrated development.
Also nearby is the 16.2ha shopping haven, Horizon Village Outlets.
