BERJAYA Group is expanding its airline business, Berjaya Air, with scheduled services to Tioman Airport (Pahang), Penang Airport and Seletar Airport in Singapore.
Berjaya Hotels & Resorts (BHR) chief operating officer Foo Toon Kee said the Penang-Pulau Redang route would also be available from the second half of the year.
“We are working on the connectivity to Tioman and Seletar airports,” he told the New Straits Times.
Previously, Berjaya Air had provided connectivity from Singapore to Redang and Tioman but it suspended the operations in 2014. But Berjaya Air has maintained its operator’s certificate by operating a Bombardier Challenger 300 business jet that is used for VIP charters.
Last month, Berjaya Air launched its flight from Subang Skypark Terminal to Redang, where BHR owns two resorts.

“Usually, our hotel guests have to take a flight to the Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu. From there, they will require another 30 minutes of land transfer to the Merang Waterfront Jetty and an hour’s boat transfer to the island.
“With this new flight, travelling time will be greatly reduced to about an hour.”
Foo said the service was launched as a testament to BHR’s commitment to provide seamless connectivity to the company’s resorts on Redang.
Berjaya Air currently operates one ATR42-500 aircraft and is considering a second aircraft with higher capacity.
The ATR42-500 can carry up to 36 passengers and the seats are sold under packages offered by BHR’s Redang Island Resort and Taaras Beach & Spa Resort.
Foo said Berjaya Air also provided chartered services.
