Hyatt House Mont Kiara opens for business

MALAYSIA’S first Hyatt House hotel, a brand of Hyatt Hotels Corp, located in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur will welcome guests beginning Saturday.
The four-star upscale residential-inspired Hyatt House KL Mont’Kiara — which is part of Arcoris Mont’ Kiara, a development by UEM Sunrise Bhd — is targeting business and leisure travellers from Southeast Asia, said Hyatt House general manager Bennett Peter.
Hyatt House has 298 guestrooms, comprising 450 sq ft studios as well as one- and two-bedroom suites of 480 and 750 sq ft, respectively.
The hotel has the essentials such as security, maintenance and housekeeping, and facilities such as a restaurant, meeting space, skypool, fitness centre, coin-operated laundrette and games room.
The published rate for the studio is RM400 per night, while the suites range from RM450 to RM550 per night.
“The rates will fluctuate on a day-to-day basis. They will also depend on the number of nights the guests stay with us. Our rooms are built for extended stay. The one-bedroom suite is ideal for short-term stay like one week, a month or more. The two-bedroom is good for expatriates and locals who plan to stay for six to 12 months. The suites have a living room and full-kitchen facilities and include daily housekeeping.
“We have received bookings and guests will start staying with us from Saturday. The more popular guestrooms are the studios and one-bedroom suites,” Peter told NST Property.
Hyatt House offers casual home-style comfort, symbolic of the Hyatt House brand.
He said the extended stay concept is becoming popular around the world. In China, it is a top trend. It is also popular in the United States and is gaining traction in Asia.
“We are upbeat on the entry of Hyatt House into Malaysia where the trend is becoming increasingly popular among expatriates and business people.
“Mont Kiara is the first choice when it comes to residential living. It is perceived as a very safe location. It is a good ‘marriage’ between UEM Sunrise and Hyatt Hotels & Resorts,” said Peter.

UEM SUNRISE’S FORAY INTO HOTELS

UEM Sunrise’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Arcoris Sdn Bhd, inked a management agreement with an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts for Hyatt House in July 2015.
Hyatt House offers more than 60 hotel locations in the US.
Inspired by extensive research of guest experiences, Hyatt House hotels are designed to welcome residents rather than guests and offer services, amenities, upscale spaces and a casual, comfortable environment that reminds guests of home.
UEM Sunrise managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib had said Hyatt House completes the overall plan of the Arcoris Mont’Kiara development, which was designed by London-based architectural firm Foster + Partners.
Anwar said it marked UEM Sunrise’s inaugural venture into the hospitality industry.
Hyatt House is one of five components of Arcoris Mont’Kiara, which hasatotal gross development value of RM1.2 billion.
It occupies the ground floor of a 37-storey building, where the lobby is located, and Level 19 to 37.
The second to 18th floors are home to office suites that are individually owned.
The other four components are Arcoris Suites, Arcoris Soho, Arcoris Residences and Arcoris Plaza which are fully sold.
Arcoris Suites is a commercial setup with 262 office units ranging from 700 to 850 sq ft each.
Launched in October 2011, the units were sold out within two weeks.
Arcoris Soho features 366 residential units from 500 to 1,000 sq ft, while Arcoris Residences has 331 residential units from 850 to 2,000 sq ft.
Arcoris Plaza features four cascading floor levels that occupy a net lettable area of 53,245 sq ft and houses 38 retail units.
Peter said being part of a larger development is a plus point for Hyatt House. Another advantage is its location in Mont Kiara.
“We are part of Arcoris Mont’Kiara and surrounded by offices, shopping malls, retail shops and residences within the Mont Kiara enclave.
“A hotel usually has five restaurants and a spa but they are wasted as guests end up dining in the same restaurant and hardly visit the spa.
“Hyatt House has just one restaurant and no spa. UEM Sunrise purposely built it this way to maximise profit. Guests can dine in our restaurant or walk to Arcoris Plaza and other outlets in the vicinity.
“The whole idea is for guests to relax and enjoy their stay with us,” said Peter.
The official opening of Hyatt House is next Thursday.
