STUNNING designs with traditional craftsmanship can make your home look elaborate and expensive.
However, they do not come cheap.
No matter what the budget is, lavish designs can be achieved with just a few small steps. Get ideas from developers and be inspired with what they are doing at their show units to create such designs for your home.
MTD Group recently unveiled the Sophie Ashby Collection at One Crown Place, the company’s mixed-use development in Central London.
The Sophie Ashby Collection comprises nine exclusive apartments of which interiors have been designed by Studio Ashby — a Notting Hill-based interior design and creative direction practice founded by its creative director Sophie Ashby.
One Crown Place, which will offer a total of 246 private apartments and penthouses, is designed by architects Kohn Pedersen Fox.
The Sophie Ashby Collection residences are inspired by the City of London’s historic past and their interiors combine modern luxury with handcrafted tradition.
Studio Ashby’s passion for beautiful objects is made apparent throughout its designs, using a carefully curated selection of memorable touches showing traditional craftsmanship.
The natural based palette is layered with muted Georgian tones.
Bolder colours come from the surrounding furniture and artwork, while the walls are adorned with a selection of art sourced from local galleries and artists to form a look that appears to have been established over time.
Henry Robinson, senior director, central London development at CBRE, said the Sophie Ashby Collection of residences are bespoke interiors that combine modern luxury with handcrafted tradition.
MARBLE IN DECOR
Marble (a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallised carbonate minerals) is expensive but it can do wonders to your home.
Less is infinitely more, so use marble in small doses rather than in amounts that may overwhelm the eye.
There are innovative ways to use marble to give a classic touch to your decor while still staying modern.
Using marble for walls and floors might make the space look too distinct and cold. You should just choose one, and add a touch of classical feel into the space. The Sophie Ashby Collection residences uses an array of different marbles throughout, exposed in their natural form.
One of the standout moments of the scheme is the integration of crafted tactile finishes and practical kitchen design.
There is the use of pyrolave glazed volvic lava and pippy elm to adorn each kitchen island, fusing the raw and refined.
In the centre of the master en suite, rich, Verde Antique marble has†been set alongside muted polishes, plaster and natural Atlantic stone.
If you want the luxury feel in your home, add a touch of marble in the living room floor and bedrooms.
