Bina Puri wins RM303 million Iraqi roadwork job

Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has successfully secured a new international contract in June 2019, for the Proposed Dual Lane Road from Al-Islah Junction to Al-Jabayish at Nasirya City, in the Province of Thi Qar, Southern Iraq, worth IQD87 billion (about RM303 million) Bina Puri said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.




The roadwork project, awarded by the Thi Qar Governate, Republic of Iraq includes the construction of 74.5km dual lane road with 7 bridges ranging from 14m-87m length, complete with all road accessories such as guardrails and street lighting, with work duration of 36 months.

With the latest award mentioned, the Group’s latest project book order will increase to RM1.56 billion, said Bina Puri group managing director, Datuk Matthew Tee.

Thi Qar Province has a good net of roads and transportation linking it to the neighboring provinces including roads and railways.

Bina Puri is among the earliest Malaysian construction company to venture overseas since 1995 and has to date successfully carried out a number of construction projects in several foreign countries. Among the notable completed projects are three highways in India including the Vijayawada–Eluru Expressway, Tada–Nellore Expressway in Andhra Pradesh and the Chittorgarh–Mangalwar Highway in Rajasthan, a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, Malaysian Chancery Building and Official Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing, China and Access Road for the New Bangkok International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.




Bina Puri have also completed about 30,000 units of low cost housing and condominiums in various locations in Thailand; 2 Blocks of 45-storey residential towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE; 174 units Villas for the Defense Housing Authority in Lahore, Pakistan and more than 3,000 houses for the National Housing Scheme of Brunei from the Brunei Economic Development Board. Currently undergoing is the construction of the Malaysian Embassy Complex in Moscow, Russia.
