i-City one of key drivers for Visit Malaysia 2020

By AK Grewal

i-City Leisure Park, located in the heart of Selangor’s Golden Triangle is one of key drivers for
Visit Malaysia 2020.

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi said, as tourism plays a key factor to any nation’s success, his Ministry hopes that this Golden Triangle of Selangor in Malaysia continues to develop, and for a balance of commerce, technology and tourism to be achieved.

"The possibility of i-City becoming a center of tourism is very exciting and something I will be
looking forward to,” he said, recently.
Mohamaddin Ketapi said his ministry is stepping up on its promotional efforts in lieu of Visit
Malaysia 2020 and targeting RM100 billion in tourist receipts and 30 million tourist arrivals.
i-City is more than just a property development project. The leisure park is being developed as a
tourism destination in line with its RM3 billion Tourism Masterplan.
I-Berhad deputy chairman Datuk Eu Hong Chew said, in developing i-City, the company has always evolved to align their plans with the goals of the Federal and State Governments.
“From the property development perspective, i-City will continue to be developed in line with the
two-pronged vision of the Selangor Menteri Besar for i-City to be the heart of the state’s Golden
Triangle and well as for Selangor to be a Smart State by 2025. At the same time, from the tourism
destination perspective, we will be upgrading Leisure Park to support Visit Malaysia 2020," said Eu.
Part of i-City’s Visit Malaysia 2020 plan involves introducing new attractions at centralWalk such as
the Snow Village. Snow Village is a miniature version of i-City’s renowned SnoWalk, an attraction
boasting a winter climate at -8 degrees celsius with a snowfall area. Visitors will get a bite-sized
SnoWalk experience here at Snow Village, which is best suited for families including other rides and
attractions infused with technology-driven effects.

Another element of i-City’s Visit Malaysia 2020 plan is to continue to add more rides and attractions
so that the centralWalk pedestrian link becomes the heartbeat of the theme park. In line with the Smart State 2025 vision, greater emphasis will be placed on using digital-based technologies to provide better theme park experiences.
To simplify the ticketing system, i-City Leisure Theme Park is introducing an All Day Unlimited Access pass – ‘All Day Unlimited Happyness’ covering key attractions such as Red Carpet 2, SnoWalk and the acclaimed City of Digital Lights.
Packages start from RM150 for domestic and RM220 for international tourists. Special packages are up for grabs for those who have purchased the ‘Malaysia Travel Privilege Card’. There is also an ‘All Day Unlimited Happyness’ package for 2 amounting to RM280 for Malaysian card holders and RM380 for international travelers.
