Scoot commenced its first direct flight using the A320 aircraft to Kota Bharu from Singapore, making it the seventh destination in Malaysia after Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Kuching, Langkawi and Penang.

Scoot, the low-cost arm of the Singapore Airlines Group, is the exclusive international flight operator flying direct to Kota Bharu, offering customers value-added airfares, and also considerable time-savings.
Customers from Kota Bharu can now save over two hours of travel time by flying directly to Singapore without having to layover in Kuala Lumpur. From Singapore, Scoot’s network connects customers to over 60 destinations across 17 countries including Athens, Berlin, Gold Coast, Jeddah, Sydney and newly launched destinations such as Trivandrum, Wuhan and Kunming among others.
This is the airline’s second destination in the east coast with the first being Kuantan Airport whereby its flight route began in February 2018.
Scoot’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer Calvin Chan said, "At Scoot, we make every effort to provide affordable travel to new destinations for our customers through our extensive network and attractive airfares. We are excited to be the only international operator to offer direct flights between Kota Bharu and Singapore, it is a showcase of our commitment to the Malaysian market."
Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin said, this Singapore-Kota Bharu route will not only provide more business opportunities to bloom, but it will also allow a good growth of tourism in the state.
Scoot is the fifth airline to operate at the airport.
